you put in a tune that you either ordered over the phone or email? do you expect anything else ? usually for something like that they will chuck it on a dyno and custom tune it inhouse

a dyno tune will cost the same asif you were running a standard memcal. i would be calling up chip master and seeing what they can do before spending more dollars

Initial timing should be rougly the same as before install.

Being EFI the initial timing trigger is mechanically set in relation to the crank location(8 degrees advanced at TDC on piston 1)the advance will then be mapped through the ECU to get the best results for your combonation.Get it tuned on the factory ECU.

Hope this helps.

I think you will need a bigger stall convertor(rpm wise)to get the most out of the 286 equipped engine if thats what you are after.

vs caprice
i had exact the same with mine m8 but im not running a crow cam my cam is 232 durationat 50 tho 108 lobe seperation 524 inlet lift 528 exhaust lift cam works from 2800 to 6800 10.5:1 compresion.

sounds like ur computer chip is a fail mine was running rich and fouling the plugs then i would get a fuel rattle clean the plugs and it would go away but trying to make the right choice and decison with me computer tune i ended up having cam failure and washed me exhaust lobes on me cam which resulted in pulling it all apart again putting new cam in it and i did a phone order with chiptorque with mine but was very detailed on me cam specs compresion specs etc with them and when i got mine through the mail i pluged mine and it did run pretty much how it should with in reason to drive it in and get a dyno run done
