Hi all,
Purchased a VR 5 litre Calais project car and work is slowly progressing on getting it back together and up and running. The previous owner had just installed a set of extractors (FYI: he passed away, so unable to ask any questions). I've been trying to find out what these pipes are and if they're any good or not - with no luck. Would appreciate any feedback from anyone who is more familiar with the offerings for these cars....
They are really short in terms of overall length - all 4 primary pipes merge together into the collector (4-into-1) and terminate with a cone style flange - similar to factory manifolds - rather than the more common flat flange that you'd find on most aftermarket pipes. I've taken some photos of the passenger side only at this stage. As you'll see, the flange barely makes it past the rail. The driver's side is shorter again - with the flange right next to the steering column knuckle.
The coating is a light blue/grey kind of colour. Also has a bung for the O2 sensor already in place.
Any ideas on who might have made these? (Assuming they're an 'off-the-shelf' offering). Or is it possible they're been hacked together? Thoughts on the 4-into-1 style and short lengths? Any other comments, good or bad? I haven't been able to find anything close on the net so far...
Cheers,
Brett.
