'84 VH SLE
i've just gone past my 150000 K's, I'm just wondering what actually is done in the 150000 K service? and how much money can i save by doing it myself??

It would probably just be oil, oil filter and the other filters and plugs (if they need changing)..

Yes, you could save money by doing it yourself.. Do a better job too..

Look at your handbook. That will tell you exactly..

the 150k service is a minor, the 160 is a major-plugs,air,fuel and oil filters.

Every service should be treated as a major, even if things arent replaced, you shoudl always check your plugs etc. Can save alot of problems later on where you may of missed something.

If everything is done by the handbook, that's one thing. But often things aren't. You should always have all of the fluids changed at the correct intervals, or it may lead to much bigger problems later..

And if you're unsure about the history of the car, just change it.. It's inexpensive compared to the potential costs involved with ruined parts..

Ie. $97 to flush power steering fluids. Over $600 to replace the rack etc..

If unsure, get it done.
