Hi guys i just registered and thought i introduce myself. My names Aleks and i drive a VN V6 exec manual. Recently i installed a T4 turbo kit on it for 254rwk :driving: . Ive attached a pic for you all to see :yeah: . Can anyone tell me if there are any meets around the melbourne area? I am from the sth east melb suburbs. Cheers Aleks aka kwik6
Welcome, I'm sure you'll be a flooded with questions about your turbo setup as soon as everyone wakes up
G'day kwik6, welcome to the site. 254 Rwkw! that 6 must have some good gear inside....what sort of internals and engine management are you using?
well spotted! I couldnt have even spotted that in the pic. the motor IS out of a VH commodore. The fella who owned it wanted more power so he had to go an 8. so for me the package was cheap and affordable. through out the old vn motor and slapped this one in. Will post pics shortly in the VN engine bay. Dont have a photo of it yet. Cheers
So you didnt build it yourself? How are those mods only 3g? ECU and tune alone would be close to a grand for that kinda pwr :S
geta not if you do it yourself on the factory ECU, it is possible, and the stock engine should/could handle that much power, not NA but with a turbo, it's heaps easier on the engine per KW
alright fine, so if you knew what to do you could program the factory ecu for cheap.. i'd still love to see how long a T5 and diff hold up to 300+ engine kw.... -dave
Manifolds are fabricated and turned up side down. They are the original manifolds. you just buy another left side manifold and stick it on the right hand side up side down, easy. Prob the easiest car to turbo. Mates did it in days. computer is standard with memcal and remapped. if you keep the boost on standard the engine will last forever but any more boost and you will blow something.
it could work but its not as simple as turning the manifold upside down.. are both banks on the engine running to the turbo as in all 6cylenders feeding the turbo? the left bank manifold would have to run under the engine to meet with the other side. Rob
You can turn the manifolds upside down, just need to reweld the end part to get it just right. That's how I was going to do mine, the drivers side bank has just enough room to sneak over the gearbox housing and into the turbine if you put the turbo where kwick6 has his, the dump pipe has to have a radical bend on it and you have to throw your air con tank in the bin on a VN but yeah, it looked like a winner to me . You can also run the drivers side bank facing forward and around the front of the engine, Vengence style, and mount the turbo where the airbox is, take your pick, but I think where kwick6 has his is better because then you can run an airbox
me , BTW I bought a 202 SLE because of your V6 swap dioxide. But now I have the VP V8 I dont need it anymore, I'll sell it to you and you can put a V6 and turbo in it, I'll even sell you a turbo
