Turning on headlights blew my amp fuse

I had just finished wiring my amp and sub up tonight at a mates and when I left it was dark so I turned my lights on and there was a massive spark and my amp now has a blown fuse. I’m not going to put a new fuse in till I get to the bottom of the problem just wondering if anyone has had this happen before

How did you wire in the system? More importantly, the illumination part.

Where was the spark, and why were you wiring a sub into the headlight circuit?

Some sub amps have a rather large capacitor in them. A fault in another circuit may cause that capacitor to discharge dramatically - the sub amp might not have been the cause of the fault. Only a guess though.

I'm no expert but since an amp should be powered straight from the battery it would seem odd that blew the fuse as a result of turning the lights on. Unless it has something to do with the switch wire but even then a VRs circuitry is fairly basic compared to later models.
