Hi there,

My girlfriends old Vb commodore just recently called it a day.

We took the mags off the car and now I was wondering if I can put them straight on the VT commodore. Can you do this without any major problems?

aaah, no I don't think so
VB used a 14" rim diameter size
and I assume your mags are that size

VT's use a 15" rim (to go over the larger brakes)
so you won't get the 14" rims to fit

the mags were 15' rims so they fitted nicely, It was this offset thign that was worrying me, I measure the little hub thing on the disc and it was the same size as the inner disc on the mag.

I put the mags/tyres on and seems to be working well, smooth ride and not rattles.

ahh no if anything it should accept the wheel more than the VB did as they are factory made with upto 18" wheels.

aaah 15" mags
should fit no problem
the centre of the wheel hub is what supports the wheel
and that is the same size VB-VT
(the wheel studs should only hold the wheel to the hub,
wheel studs should never support a wheel or take the weight
of the car...with some motorsport exceptions to that though)

Hey all,

From what I know, its rim off-set. the off-set of the centre of the rim will be either be cost to centre of the rim or towards the outside of the rim. The off-set should be fine as stated in the previous replys.
Either of two things will happen.
1. The rim will clash with the brake calliper.
2. The tyre will rub on the guard.

Holden rims for utes have a different off-set to sedans in general.

Cheers all,

Phil
