Does anyone know if a set of 225's will fit on standard vs berlina alloys? and what the handling of the car would be like with 225's? i had them on a vc years back but dont remember what the steering was like...thanks.
I had 215's on my VS Berlina, and I would never go back to the standard size. The steering was heavier, but overall the handling and levels of grip were far superior to the standard tyres. I had Yokohama C drives on at the time, previous to that their A539 tyres, both had fantastic levels of grip. I don't see that there would be a problem in running 225's, as long as the rolling diameter of the tyres doesn't change. The only thing you might have to watch is the clearance when you turn full lock on the steering, make sure it doesn't rub the guards or plastic liners in the wheel well. A mate used to have 225's on his AU Fairmont, also with 15" rims standard, and he had no troubles.
I have 225's/18's on my VS and car is lowered and I've never had any probs. Much better handling etc. .... dunno if they'd fit on those rims but.
i remember a few years back trying to get 215's put on the standard rims but tyre blokes kept telling me they werent made to fit... have to look into the 225's...thanks guys..
