Well Ladies and Gentlemales.

I need help. I've always hated school, but I am now Year 12 and it scares me, i'm putting in effort.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me about their UAI experiences and what subjects and types of marks they were getting.

I want to be a cop (66 UAI) but I want to get a UAI of 70.
I am doing.. Legal Studies, Modern History, Community and Family Studies (top of class :w00t: ), General Maths and Standard English.

Legal and CAFS I get excellent marks in even without study. Am I screwed over with my subjects or is it possible to get to my goal??

Anyone else in Year 12??? :yeah:

Yep, i'm doing yr 12, but in the ACT, so we have a different system. I got a UAI estimate of around 86 (+ or - 5 they reckon), the ACT system is pretty good, however it does reward students who are sluts, not in the true sense of the word, but people who do the subjects to purely get the score instead of doing courses which would be practical for university study (ie people doing double media when they are doing law at Uni etc).

I'm doing double IT and have had my 2 scores in the top 5 of the school for all 4 semesters, so i'm cheering about that.

i do:
2 unit maths
standard english
physics
chemistry
music
1 unit religion

I did better than I thought - it actually depends a lot on the rest of the people in your class. All that matters in the end is your final rank in the year really.. I still don't understand scaling..

I got into arts, then transferred to Business after one semester - the UAI was 7 points higher than what I got.

In the end, you don't need to worry. If you really want to do something, you can. For example, my mate will be studying medicine for about ten years - an that is before he does any specialising. I certainly couldn't do that, but if you've got your heart set on something, there will be a way of getting in.

Biggest tip? Don't stress - it's not worth it

Christina, this dude has a good point, don't stress too much about the end result. As long as you're satisfied that you've put in a reasonable effort at the end then you should be proud of whatever you achieve, and even if you don't quite make it, there are many other ways of getting into uni if you're prepared to put in the effort. Policing is a very worthy field to be looking at getting into, they need more real human beings, thats for damn sure.

I went to highschool in the ACT like Jimboss except I'm a few years older, I pulled a UAI of 91.75 outta my arse. (double IT as well actually. Hey jimboss, you doing any maths?) I only remember the number exactly because a couple of my mates got 91.50 and 91.65, was some pretty funny ****, they wanted to kill me. :D See UAI's can be humorous! :yeah:

i wish i didnt even do year 11 and 12, it was a waste of time. as soon as i got my license my mates and i would piss off home and skip class. i should have gone out and got a trade apprenticeship as soon as i left year 10 so by the time i was 20 i was fully qualified and earning real money.

it's true, if you start apprenticeships early it will be better earlier, but i can't leave school, my dad already threatened me when i nearly got kicked out. he needs the student allowance!

i think the starting pay for a cop is 47 000'

i think its 18 months triaining. but its all good, what do u do?
