1999 vt ss 5.7l series 2
Hi i have just purchased a vt ss 5.7l about a month ago. Last week I found the engine fitted with a uni chip and searched ebay to see if it that type of chip is on ebay, and it was. Ebay chips being a load of crap and a waste of money, i want to remove the uni chip and just use the the origonal ecu. Is it just a matter of plugging it, or do i have to plug wires back into the ecu.

thanks mick

theres nothing wrong with a unichip, i had one on my old 180SX. it does have its limitations tho as i replaced it with an aftermarket ECU later on.

theyre piggyback units that are joined 'in-line' with some of your ECU wires to alter the signal +/- 50%.

to remove it would be just a matter of cutting the unichip wires out and rejoining the ECU wires. your stock ECU might need a retune, i dont know. but for me, i'd rather let the professionals deal with that.

if youre in SA, blackwood dyno fitted my unichip, and tilbrooks removed it.
