Haha, I've heard that their customer service is fairly ****. Although one of the main attractions that I have to 3 is that they do give quite a bit of value for your buck. Plus you can watch the cricket on your phone :yeah:
If your computer savvy check this site out [Guide] Flashing And Making Backup of Your Z6 - ModMyMoto - Software Modding Forums and Updates for Motorola Phones I unlocked my new motorokr (actual name, just a motorolla spin off since its geared up for MP3 use mainly) the other day by re-flashing it, it was connected to crazy johns. They have good phones but crap top up deals. Good luck either way.
Thanks mate. Went there, only to find that the V3X is one of the models that on-line unlocking doesn't seem to be an option for. Tried to re-install the phone software on the pc. Fine, seemed to work ok, but cannot connect to the phone via either bluetooth or cable. Suspect that the phone software is too old for Vista, being 2005 vintage. Whilst my current (new/old) V3X works ok as a phone and SMS sender/receiver, I would like to do the following to fix it completely. 1. Get rid of the old Telstra skin that obviously comes from its previous user. 2. Get MMS to work, as my old phone used to do. 3. Get Bluetooth to work properly. Some would say "get a new phone", but I have tried a number of different phones and keep coming back to the V3X because I like the flip-phone design and its functionality, plus it seems to be well made and robust.
every telstra phone i have got has been unlocked i got heaps on plans when i turned 18 from optus and telstra and all were unlocked last time i got a telstra fone was 2 months ago and it was unlocked it just has there back screens and web stuff on it but also by getting lots it has caused me to get in alot of debt
You might have uninstall the software completely from the PC and then reinstall it. I had to find the P2K drivers and install them before the Motorola PC software found my phone. You can try different versions of phone software. I reflashed my phone, that may have had something to do with it, but I'm sure the bluetooth worked after I did it.
Yep. I've tried the delete/reinstall with the software, with no success. The same error message comes up that the pc can't find the phone. The software worked fine on the old pc with Windows XP, so I suspect Vista might have something to do with it. I have checked to see if updated drivers etc are available but it appears not. However, having located Howard's forums (and thanks for the advice), I am going to see if a re-flash can be carried out. I have also located a repairer in Northern Sydney who actually set out the various costs for various services, although fixing bluetooth isn't listed. I also want to be able to send pictures via MMS - the SMS works fine but not MMS. Stuffed if I can work out why.
Not true. International roaming is NOT on consumer plans by default, it is on some business accounts/services by default however. A credit check needs to be done before applying introam onto a service that has not had introam activated. Once activated it can remain on the service indefinetly. Not true, all post paid handsets can have any carriers SIM in them, however no other carrier runs on the 850 network, therefore coverage is not the same. All handsets sold by T have T firmware on them (as do most carriers) but this does not stop you from using another carriers SIM. -- Im a little worried that if you work for big T and you are not aware of all this stuff?
I just went to operator selection, chose manual, and Voda Telstra and Optus came up so I changed it from Optus (where I got it from to Voda) who I'm with now. Simple, took me about ten seconds. Its worked on a couple of phones too over the years. Dont know if that what we are talking about and the actual menu wording was different on each phone, that was the hardest part.
The problem with the big T is no two people know the same things. I am still going through account problems after 9 months of trying to separate two accounts that should never have been linked in the first place. One person tells me something and then another tells me the opposite.
I avoid Telstra like the plague. They rang me recently to try to get me as a customer. I told them I wouldn't join if they were the last Telco on earth. They didn't argue much after that. Just "Thank you." and gone.
theres plenty of unlocking softwares on the net for most model phones if you have the pc link cable for it
Okay, this is fun.....not. Went to the Motorola website. Ah yessss, there is indeed a large update for the software for the V3X. Part of that update is compatibility with Vista. Beauty! Until you go through the process, plug in the phone to the PC and the software identifies your specific phone and the original network to which it was connected, and tells you that the phone is out of warranty and therefore not eligible to have the latest software installed on the net. Obviously, the 2005 drivers that came with the phone can't work with Vista. To have the phone updated and rectify the bluetooth and MMS probs would cost far more than this phone is worth, no matter how much I like it. Guess I'll just have to put up with it as it stands until it dies.
Thats news to me. I've been able to put sims from other networks in my plan phones from Telstra. Straight up. Prepaid ones no, but they're all locked. My V3x i got on Telstra a while back now, after it died i got a prepaid Telstra phone and when my Boost phone died the V3x started working again, the Boost sim card worked no problems in the "Telstra" V3x. Even the technicians at Optus and Telstra have confirmed for me that plan phones are unlocked.
After reading this thread I decided to have my phone unlocked. The reason I choose to do so was to allow other sims cards to be used by my phone. I'm with 3, on a 2 year contract, which I started in December 2007. My phone was the Sony Ericsson K770i. The process was dead simple to unlock the phone. Called up 3, and spoke to a lady in India. I asked her for my phone to be unlocked. After passing the verification process, she asked why I wanted the phone unlocked. I told her that I will be travelling outside of Australia within the next month and would like the ability to use other sim cards whilst overseas. She agreed with my statement, and then asked for a contact number to call back on so that she could complete the unlocking process. After giving the operator an alternative callback number, she called back, and ran me through the process of unlocking the phone. Do as they ask and you'll be fine. Within 2 mins of her call I had an unlocked phone, which I tested with an alternative sim card. All up, the whole process took around 6-10mins (I can't exactly remember how long it took) and was dead easy to complete. You just need a little bit of patient dealing with the operator, but that applies when dealing with any phone inquiry.
