Grinding and locking out/jumping out of gear all sounds like internal gearbox issues with shims, selectors and synchros, cant see why a new box would be doing it.... or are they rebuilding your box each time?

The chatter is actually fairly common, some cars are worse than others. We've sent boxes out to get rebuilt and they have come back with the same noise with the trans specialist reporting no issues ie a characteristic of that box.

Go to the media mate, they have had more than their fair chance to put things rite here, i am sure Holden does not want a bad press issue only weeks out from a new model launch.

Just a thought, but i would be burning them over this big time.

Cheers.

No point going to media when they are still making an effort to resolve the issue.

Apparently they're not rebuilding them. I had to wait 4 weeks for the first one to be delivered and this one was apparently new as well. Been told they're not allowed to open them up to find what the fault is?

Like I said, I haven't driven this one enough yet to get a good idea, but from what they told me, it's doing the same thing.

I've been told that chatter is common - but this echoes when you open the door next to a kerb. I've also got the rattle under the shifter - which I think they also replaced and IS still happening.

You may be correct Ricey, but it is a very poor effort so far mate. And does not look at all good at the moment.

Cheers.

Thanks Mike.

I'll leave that to a last resort though. They are still trying to fix it. My issue isn't really with the service team, as they are clearly frustrated by the lack of result too. I'm pissed that it's happened and gone on this long, but it really isn't their fault, not that it's my problem who's fault it is. But I'll follow the chain of command. Last thing I want to do is shoot myself in the foot, but throwing blind punches!

While it may seem like a lack of effort its not always the case.

Some issues can be a real headache to diagnose and be very time consuming. When Holden will only allow dealerships limited time for diagnosis, the dealerships hands are tied. The fact they have fitted 2 new gearboxes so far shows they are making a reasonable effort to rectify the issue.

In the end, I've paid for a car that works - and these faults have been evident, in one form or another, for over 18 months, with not many of them being resolved, or alternatively, being recurring.

I'll be escalating the issue, but I don't want to ruin the relationship I have with the dealer. I don't blame them. But it's certainly not fair that I should be as inconvenienced as I have been with constantly returning the vehicle for recurring issues. SOMETHING needs to happen!

I'm sure trying to!

But like Ricey said, they ARE trying. And clearly, they're not bullshitting me, with the, we didn't fix anything phone call - I can't ask more than that from them. However, I can ask for a working vehicle from Holden. Can't hurt to try, anyway!
