    Just spoke to my cousin who has an auto V6 VP commodore that won't kick over. As soon as you turn the ignition to the 'on' position there is high pitched ringing sound comming from the engine bay. It also won't fire at all when turning it over.

    not the immobilizer ringing noise? So it actually turns over but doesnt fire correct?

    The immobliser has been disconnected.

    ok can you answer the second because in your first post you say that it wont kick over then you say that its doesnt fire when turning over. 2 most likely causes will be CAS and dfi. Any chance you can narrow a closer area to where the noise is coming from? for example near the battery or near the coil packs

    Sorry mate wrong thing, it will kick over but won't fire. Unfortunetly it's hard as I haven't seen the car as yet, im going to have a look tomorrow.

    DFI or CAS... High pitch noise could be DFI...

    i know the sound, the starter is shorting... that big ass fat lead is shorting on the block somewhere, be VERY CAREFUL... disconnect the bat first

    explains the no kicking over aswell... happened to me when i changed the starter once
