Urgent help with vr 5.0l ute

hey i have a vr 5.0ltr manual with a weird problem, occasionally the gearbox light comes on and the car starts playing up, it surges and runs slightly ruff but it will only do this when the gearbox light is on, i have checked the gearbox and engine oil and both are OK any help much appreciated. could this be a fault code???

hmmmm...could be a fuel pressure problem.....an intermittent thing maybe...
