I think they mean that its not good to use them because the springs were once "worn into" another car and dont feel right when installed again, and could potentially wear the suspension to the point of replacment again.

best to buy new, that way the springs will wear into the car naturally

hope this makes some sense lol

Haha, I really wouldn't stress about it jas :) How seriously are you taking this car? Show car? Track car? If not, second hand springs can't possibly hurt :) Shocks are always a bit of a gamble, but a good set of shocks tend to last around ten - fifteen years without violent abuse, and if a $50 set of second-handies packs in after a year, you've lost nothing.

Front and rear springs and shocks in my VP were out of two different cars at wreckers.

The front springs and shocks in my VQ were out of my VP, and the rear springs were out of someone else's VP, and the rear shocks out of another VQ. Total mash up, but it works beautifully :) It's a LOT cheaper, and most of the time, going on percentage, cars that are written off havn't had more than around 3yrs between modification and smash-time. :) If you're lucky, the items will be newer than that.

The upside of this, is that if you decide you want to go lower, or that you have gone too low, you havn't lost much money. Once you've decided you're happy with your running combo, (maybe give it a few years?) then you can get into big money, and buy outright brand new sets - reputable brands like Bilstein - which will take your car to another level.

Oh, and if you want it to handle, don't forget swaybars, and adjustable strut tops. With the right combination of stiffer swaybars and progressive springs, you can have both comfort and stability in cornering. Of course, if you don't mind a kick in the arse every time you go over a bump, you can run linear springs like I have in the rear of my stato :p Fun times ^_^

Yeah you should be right, just make sure the car your getting them off hasn't been in any major crashes. A mate of mine made this mistake and his springs were fine for about 2 months before one actually snapped in half one day (regular driving not pushed hard). :wax:

    thanks guys

Ozzie_VT: Yep makes perfect sense. Been thinking that myself as the springs i have are off me VN that i wrecked (so there vn springs).

Morton: lol nah not show car or track just want it a little lower as it looks like a truck :p. at the moment i checked how low it makes the rear as i trial fitted them the other day and now it has a good height to it so im happy with height (only lows) lol and yeh i know what you mean about cars getting mods done then smashed ....there was this vs at the wreckers that had tons of new parts on it.....almost rebuilt from ground up then it had a big hit from rear.....

VSSECO: yeh thats what i was worried about when i was going to look at wreckers for some vs springs but the vn i have (that i may use teh springs off) is pretty straight

umm all in all i can get new set for 300 but 300 is allot as i already have a set here but from a VN...king springs them selfs said that they normally use a 10 mm higher spring in a vr/vr as compared to a vn spring.....can this make much difference?

also does king springs directly? like is there a site i can go to and purchase them?
    cheers

well after ripping front springs off the vn i have decided to buy 2 new springs for the front. That way they will be the correct ones for the VS, That and teh fact the front end of the vn was lowered buy a retard that didn't know how to do up nuts and bolts at least a little tight and not finger tight, resulting it one of teh shocks being pushed through the strut top and the other damaging the strut lol so i don't want to risk it. i have the rears which are the same vn-vs etc so that shouldnt be a problem. one of the front king springs looks like its starting to pit and rust.
For what 2 front springs are worth and the fact that to change the front springs is a bitch compared to the rear ill go new haha that and the front does a bit more work then the rear when cornering, braking, etc

    cheers
