Hi,

I have an SV6 Storm wagon with standard Fog lights.

Has anyone else had trouble with oncoming traffic thinking that your headlights are on high beam when in fact you have been on low beam, but also using the fog lights?

Are the lights too bright or do they get the 2 sets of lights confused with high beam?

Or maybe mine need adjusting?

As soon as I turn the fog lights off I don't have any trouble.

Thanks

They're FOG lights, not driving lights. The reason you're getting flashed is because you're blinding people - they're aimed pretty much straight into the eyes of oncoming drivers. It's illegal to drive with them on unless it's foggy.

Have a read of those.

It was foggy and raining.
I am presuming they are aimed incorrectly.

Never been flashed in any of my Commodores whilst using the foggies. Re aim them and give that a go. Perhaps even check the headlight alignment.

Are they different to whats in a Redline?

Foggies wont blind anyone. They have a wider spread but far less range.
If I put mine on, all they do is illuminate a few degrees wider than the normal headlights.

Thanks Flukey,

I think they are the same as Redline.

As you said, they don't have a very long range.

I'll have a look tonight and see if I can notice anything wrong with their alignment.

EYY,

Thanks for taking the time to post those links.

There were a few interesting points in there.

One thing I did pick up from one of the links, which I hadn't even thought of, was that
I had a pretty big load in the back of the wagon both times I have had trouble.

So If my lights are slightly out of alignment the extra load in the back might have compounded the error.

You know what happens when some knob flashes me - rare but occasionally this happens.

They get full high beam straight back at them for a good 3 or 4 seconds - see that dufus? that's what hb looks like. :)

Fogs are angled down, as per the pic on the switch. If the road is wet, the angle of light reflects straight into the eyes of oncoming traffic. As has been stated, illegal to run if not foggy and even then illegal to run if headlights are running, you can only run them in foggy conditions and with parkers on.

Or you can run them for the sake of it and blind someone coming around a corner potentially causing an accident because you think your car looks cooler with them on. Either way.

aren't fog lights yellow? cause in areas of high fog they have more of a yellow street light rather than the clear/white street lights.
