I did a compression test on my 02 V2 Monaro last night, I have done some searching around to see what numbers are considered good or bad on LS1's, and I have seen varied opinions. I believe around 180 is a good healthy motor, anything over 150 is ok.
The engine is 100% stock, with 383,000km
All 8 plugs removed, test was done on cold engine with throttle closed.
I did not put any oil in the cylinders.
1. 165 psi
2. 155
3. 165
4. 155
5. 160
6. 170
7. 155
8. 165
This seems ok to me, I figured anything over 150 would be ok on an engine with 383,000km. The compression numbers are consistent, with no notable highs or lows, and if you add the numbers together for each bank, they are exactly even, so I guess that would be a good sign. Would one consider this to be a decent result?
