v6 auto and manual starter motors

hey guys, currently in the process of doing a manual conversion on the vp. is there a difference in the auto and manual starter motors? if not, does anyone know where i can get a manual starter motor from cheap?

They're different for V6s, and the same for V8s.

Your only options to get cheapies are 1) from the wreckers (good luck) or 2) from ebay (good luck!)

On the brighter side. If you use a dual mass VS flywheel mirror balanced to your auto flex plate, or you use one of those converter kit flywheels that bolt up to your flex plate then you won't need to change starter motors.

Still need the manual starter with the flexplate adapting flywheels.. The auto starter has a nose bit on the end which doesnt fit in the bellhousing. Ive tried :) lol

But that was out of curiousity and had a manual starter at hand lol. So yes, the manual starter works on the auto flex plate.

dont go to holden or they will charge you an arm and a leg....
i usualy go to repco for all my parts... i neva use second hand because u dnt know how long they will last or what they have been through..
i just bought a starter motor for my VN S1 V6 and it cost me $200.. they can be used in VN, VP, VR, VS, VT and VX

idd give repco a shot personally..
