Use the vr air compressor and vn air con lines plus receiver drier. Its the easiest way. Ill be using the vh receiver drier and making custom lines in my bay as the whole thing is custom.

Youll need to wire a switch up to trigger the ecu as the ecu controls the entire air con unit.

I know this might sound silly but wouldn't it be much easier to just go with a VK black injected motor (for people owning a VB to VH)... do some work to the head, manifold and exhaust and leave it at that? Even in the VL there's scope to put in the standard turbo unit and do some mods to the manifold and head. Less trouble overall and no need to modify frames, etc as everything would be bolt-in ready.

Not really, even a mildly worked 202 will struggle to keep up with a stock 3800 V6 conversion then consider the conversion comes with either a decent 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto, both with over-drive top gears you'll get much better mileage than an old trimatic of 4 speed manual box fitted to the earlier models.

What about updating to the VL turbo pack...that would probably do the trick, wouldn't it?

Your still talking about a full engine transplant and wiring etc when looking at either an RB20/30 engine.

The v6's are a much more viable option. You can have an engine, box and loom for under $200 these days if you look around. Some wreckers are a little more expensive but offer a warranty. Since you're not really making any structural modifications and pretty much everything is a bolt in affair, it's easy to get them engineered. Engineering is really only concerned with emissions compliance in this case, so should be on the cheaper end of the scale at around $800-1,000 here in Vic.
