hey guys, curious as to the location of the coolant temp sensor on the high output 3.6l.

saw the temp gauge start to fluctuate the other night. I've checked the overflow and i haven't lost any coolant, theres no signs of seepage from the waterpump or around the radiator cap..
although i do need to grab another one because the current one has appeared to sieze on there.

    cheers in advance

Engine temperatures do fluctuate sometimes wildly depending on ambient temperatures, manner of driving, road and traffic conditions, load being pulled (passengers in vehicle etc) by vehicle etc. How do you know that 'the current one has appeared to seize' ?

The only time engine temp will fluctuate wildly is when there is a problem. The most common is an air lock in the system. The most common cause is a faulty coolant cap.

Get a new cap and top up/bleed the cooling system and see how you go.

Unlikely, in all my years with Holden I have never replaced a thermostat yet everyone on here seems to think they are an issue.
