I’ve noticed that the air induction manifold on my V6 Ute is made of aluminium and it gets very hot as the engine heats up. Presumably the heat from the manifold is heating up the air entering the engine, which would result in a loss of power. Has anyone ever tried to reduce induction temp? I’ve considered permanently removing the engine cover and running a pipe from the front of the car to flow some cooler air over the aluminium manifold to help cool it.
Yeah just leave the cover off that should be enough to reduce heat sink. I think thats why holden went to the 2 peice covers for the LS1 & LS2 V8s.
F.I.T have a laser cut heat shield that goes over the left hand side (right hand side when looking under the bonnet) to help shield the intake from excess heat. Apparently this simple piece of metal helps a fair bit just on it's own. You can helps things along further by adding in an intercooler to the mix if you live in predominately hot areas.
