Hey there
hows it going?
i have a VY commodore, V6 3.8lt ecotec.
i was just wondering if you could help me out with what mods i could/should do to my car.
what would you recommend?, im willing to spend up round $1500-$2000.
its pretty stock at the moment it only has a 2.5" cat back. i was thinking of getting a pannel filter or CAI as well.

Thanks heaps
Jason.

You won’t have to spend that much based on the item I’d recommend below, unless you go the cylinder head package ;)

Cold air intake kit $250
1.9:1 ratio rocker $475
Pushrods $110
25mm manifold insulator $180
12mm plenum spacer $130
69mm throttle body $220

To finish it off you can get a set of extractors, but if you a “stealth” appearance then it might not be ideal.

The good thing with these parts if you decide to get a Raptor kit later on they will most certainly complement it, as has been mentioned by Raptor Charged VX :)

hey mace how come you suggested the 1.9:1 instead of 1.98:1 rockers?
and with the 1.98:1 rockers do you need pushrods?

Good question :) The main reason is because he has a VY commodore and there isn't enough space in the head to run these rockers without cleaning up the area around the pushrods.

Gday steve, Thanks for the reply..

I'm pretty comfortable giving 4/5 a go. The only issue for me is the manifold insulator.

Nah manifold insulator is easy as. I did it in less that an hour, and most of that was trying to find my damn tools.

How come? I ask because it's one of the best bolt on mods around for the ecotec and is quite easy to install as mentioned acarmody
