    hi all

Ive been doing some searching and found 2 issues my car may have, and just need some clarification of what it could be....

i have a vr series 2 equipe v6, with 249000km and it rattles i bought the car rattling for $500 bucks so I'm not too stressed. but I'm about to tackle the fix of the noise

it rattles like a tinny metallic noise on start up and stays there un till i rev it about 2 - 2,500 rpm and some times more

its not using too much fuel like i first thought (bugged fuel sender caused the fuel gauge to drop at 1/4)

the 2 issues i found are balance shaft Bering's (which i thought it was) or timing chain. if its the chain ill do it next week but if its the shaft Bering's ill have to take the engine out.

anyone know of a way to tell for shore? (and no its not the accery's Ive taken the belt off etc and it has plenty of oil pressure and there is no metal in the oil)

noise also sounds loud under the car as in at the bell housing.

Could be either the harmonic balancer or the flex plate - these have a habit of coming loose and causing a rattle. My money is on the flex plate. Check by removing cover and try moving the flex plate.

Maybe the vibration in the driveline is another problem - Commodores usually have a noticeable vibration with heavy acceleration in the lower gears.

no no i dont have a vibration which is good.... i did have a shudder etc bit i did a auto service on the weekend and for some reasion some one put a shallow pan filter in my auto which needed the deep pan filter lol no more stalling and no more shudder... but this anoying noise in the motor is still there. i might get a new chain anyways and do it when i do the sump gasket which is leaking.
