Works perfectly. Hasn't missed a beat and makes the shifts so much better. And my transmission had already done 295,000km before getting it installed, so if anyone was going to break it would be mine.

That's an awful lot man, got other quotes? Service is a fairly moot point, they'll have to drop the pan anyway and a filter is $15. My mate charges $400.

That works out to be 2 separate jobs, but with the shift kit + labour it's not too bad considering where you're located. They only have to remove the valve plate to install the shift kit, which is on top on the trans filter which will be replaced when servicing. Wondering if the're going to complete a full trans fluid flush of the entire system (11 ltrs approx of dex III) or just do a standard trans sump pan + filter out, (4 ltrs of dex III) job. Eitherways the comprehensive GM "ATSG" for your model will help you to understand wtf is going on & what we are on about, go to your local library - you might get lucky & find a copy to read up on.

I paid $250 for a kit and a service (5L of fluid and a filter, which they valued at $95), for the extra $500 you could probably drive to somewhere cheaper, AND pay accommodation.

That's an amazing deal, a stage 2 kit alone (trade price) is $140 and 1.5 hours work at least even for a pro.
