There will be extra cost in getting either a V8 driveshaft or modifying the one you have to cater for the larger rear uni. As mentioned above the U bolts are also longer to suit the larger yoke (uni cup size is the same), if the diff doesn't come with them you'll need to get a couple. l Otherwise bolt-in.
and dont let those silly bolts fool ya. cheapest i could find them was 15 bucks EACH!!! i know its not much, but for a pissing little tiny bolt is a lot. plus they are balanced so dont think you can grap a couple of zinc ones from the hardware store either
what is this u bolt business.. i have changed my diff a few times (in my old vl wagon never in my vh) and never came across u bolts,, can someone take a photo and circle it or something cheers
these them what ye be needin' Universal joint U BOLTS Holden 1 Ton - eBay Universal Joints, Driveshafts, Transmission, Car, Truck Parts, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 09-Oct-10 01:25:14 AEDST) 30 bucks plus postage, bloody thieves. the yolk on the V8 diff is thicker so it needs the longer bolts. and they snap... so be careful
The VL has a flange on the rear of the driveshaft which bolts to the pinion flange on the diff. The VH will have a yoke on the diff pinion and needs U bolts to attach the uni cups directly to it, no flange involved.
