I replaced the thermostat and flushed the motor and radiator and put new coolant in and was wondering what temp should it be running at on the temp guage? Mine sits about 1/3... Is that about right for a vn 5ltr? When should the thermo fan come on as well?

what temp thermo did you use ? Standard they are 88 degrees. Fan comes on at 100. When thermostats are old they dont open as well. You should always test in a pot of boiling water and they should come on before it boils at 100 degrees. Mine sits just above 1/4 with a 88 thermo.

Not sure on the temp for the new thermostat.. Will have to find the packet that it came in.. What the best way to tell the temp when the fan comes on..Can I change the temp on the fan as well?

If you can hack the ecu you can change the temp. But you shouldnt need to if everything is ok, its only really a back up to the main fan. Only way to tell the temp in your car is when it actually comes on. Mine cant come on as the fan was jammed the only way I knew it tried to come on was a blown fuse , haha. Now I dont have a electronic fan at all. I have an aluminum radiator tho and its winter in nz so will just fix it before next summer just in case it wants to blow another fuse :)

It's winter here too.. Might have to see if I can get the fan to work ad see if it runs but when I let it run in the Drive way it does not get past a 1/3 and runs fine..
