Varex mufflers sound like arse IMO.
They work with a radio controled solenoid which opens a butterfly in the muffler.

I thought they were basically the same mufflers that the HSV models with the bi-modal exhaust use.

Totally different to the hsv exhaust as varex are remote controlled which comes in handy at rbt's.
Also they don't sound like arse I have them on my ssv wagon and they sound awesome and are loud as hell, all exhausts have different notes so get on youtube and check some out.

Matter of opinion. I've heared the Varex mufflers on a few Subaru's and Holdens. IMO they sound cheap and thrashy. Much like the normal X force mufflers.

I have a 3" cat back with the varex mufflers love the sound and it sounds no diff to my mates xforce system without the varex, i dont use the quite mode much just when comin home late or if im on the hwy but it brings it back to standard exhaust sound when closed

Why would it be illegal its just like any other sport muffler only u can make it quite???

Because you can make it way louder then legal, is why its illegal.
Same reason adjustable coil overs are illegal on road cars. You can make them really really low which is illegal. Its dumb, but hey just look at the Aus govt and you'll understand.

Has anyone had a Varex exhaust on a 6 cylinder engine? All the commodores ive seen the Varex on are 8s. I just wondered if its possible to get a nice throaty and beefy sound on a 6.
