The only issue you will strike is the rack...They changed racks possibly at the VH, but definately at the VK....So the VB rack won't bolt upto the VK k-frame....

Motor wise, they bolt straight on...Doesn't matter if it is a 6cyl or a V8...They are the same

Not quite correct @VC, maybe you’re thinking of manual racks over power and different intermediate shafts .

Yes motors bolt straight in 6 or 8 as the VB-VK Kframes are the same, which obviously changed for the VL Nissan 6 motor.
The Kframes up to VK have about 460mm measurement from centre of bolt to centre of bolt for the steering rack fitment holes.
With the VL-VS Kframes they have a smaller measurement of 420mm between the steering rack fitment bolt holes and the rack heads are smaller hence better clearances for exhausts, that’s why people use them in conversions on VB-VK.

VH or VK is when the rack bolt up points changed to being wider.....I just can't remember when the change over occurred....However if you choose to have a search on here, it has been documented a few times over the years.

No need to look at old posts sometimes with incorrect info to actually know what is standard and what works, trying to jam a LS motor/trans into different cars you quickly know what has changed between models and the lil differences with the same model between series 1 and 2. And let’s not forget the chassis rail firewall connections/trans tunnel size changes as well from VL models compared to VB/VK. Hamma time comes into play then for clearances.

Sorry @vc commodore, racks changed to being wider at bolt brackets on VL/VS models NOT in early VB/VK, (vb/vk 460mm and vl/vs 420mm) measurements of different kframes/rack position don’t lie but memory can.

Your confusion probably lies in the distinction between power and manual steering and the intermediate shafts and the combos and similarities using either. Look into factory parts numbers you will see VB/VK different part numbers for the Kframes, not because they are different in engine mounting or rack measurements but just because manual rack bolt positions are lower and use a longer intermediate shaft.

When people have used different kframes/racks/intermediate shafts and not changed to the later VL/VP series 1 kframes/inter shafts for the conversion they ran into trouble with lengths and couplings of shafts, some re weld bolt position brackets and also weld inter shafts lengths and also changed uni’s on inter shafts ends to connect to steering columns but steering welds need approval in SA to be legally registered.
