VB Diff compatibility

Hey all ive recently purchased a 1979 VB SLE with a vc flare kit and a 350 chev along with a TH350 box but it still has the original 4.2L diff i want to know if a 83 WB 10 bolt will fit and how hard is it to convert the drums to disc brakes. im a bit of a newby at all this and have got myself a starting point but just need to upgrade a few bits on the old girl. if there are better 10 bolt options that will fit i am keen to know what they are

Only 10 bolt diffs fit are VB-VK ones only.
Other option is VL borg warner diff.

Look for the borg warner 4 star is your best bet nowadays.

Didn't some of the really late VK's have a BW??

The VK's with the Borgies were only 26 spline rather then the stronger 28 spline like the VLT and VN onwards Borgies.

thanks guys I will look into the VLT BW diffs and see what comes up are you suggesting the BW will be better due to more availability or just personal preference.
Only VB to VK 10 Bolt and VLT BW will work on my 79 VB are they both just as good or is one of them more of a standout performer.

VL turbo diffs are rare but will be the best.

Look for the borg warner 4 star is your best bet nowadays.

4 star? don't you mean 4 pinion?

There are options these days to beef up the small salisbury if you are willing to throw money at it.
