I just realised I missed the obvious during this whole discussion doh. It doesn't really matter what size the CV is, because I can simply use the CV from whatever VL tailshaft I buy. Instead of just using the rear section (pink box below), and trying to bolt to the existing 100mm CV, I can simply use the rear section including the CV from the new one (blue box below), to connect to the existing centre bearing. Since all the centre bearings are the same size, and the borg warner diff flanges are all the same size, it guarantees fit up pretty sure.

2 size CV's...100MM is the largest...There is one around the 90MM size....No, you can't use a 90MM C.V with a 100M C.V shaft....So if you are changing one end with another, you have to get the correct size C.V to suit both ends, as they aren't interchangeable

Hope it makes sense

Yeah earlier in the thread we talked about the 100mm CV and 94mm CV. This is what was causing me headaches as I have the 100mm OD CV currently but the 100mm VL tailshafts (V8 or Turbo) are hard to find. Then I realised the centre bearing (and therefore hopefully the spline stub shaft?) is identical in size, so as long as one uses the whole donor tailshaft from diff flange to centre bearing (as per the blue box in the diagram), the CV size is irrelevant. Unless the spline stub from the front half is also a different diameter, is that what you mean?

Ignore the above. You are right, the stub shaft and splines are totally different, thanks. For the record the 94mm OD CV has 24 spline x 26.46mm but the larger 100mm OD CV has 25 spline x 27.5mm.
