At the end of the day would it be safe to say
Car is an early production rear drum fitted 4.2L sle with a mix of options fitted
And more then likely options may have been dealer fitted after delivery or possibly
a specific customer order perhaps

Is there anyway of getting hold of VAP reproduction sheets smitty?
And given the options fitted is it likely car had any specific packs not stamped sl/enut?
Would the Australian Muscle Car ID Handbook help decipher options fitted?
Also appreciate all of your quick responses! Cheers

the VB-VL VAP production lists got binned in the 90s I believe (and that was over 15 years since VBs were made)
and only very sketchy records kept (mainly because there was no digital data kept from those days of the IBM mainframe)

I can just about recite very option back from those days... but without a build plate and the broadcast sheets for your car
there is no way of finding the exact build details :(

Usually that hints what pack it is, IE 306 pack.
Mine is the following
Model: VB8VX69
Body number:642234M
Trim:1945-63Y Buckskin Velour
Paint:567-30583 Sandlewood Beige Metallic
ENG:L31 TRANS:M21 RRAXLE GU4

That said, mine is whats called a 308 pack.

There are the Base VB SL/E(without option pack number) then, 306 and 307 with 253 motor then 308 or 310 with 308 motor and lastly 302, with 202 motor in VB SL/E range.

Its confusing for me Does it mean mine is a 306 or 307 pack or are the extras just options

Yours is 306 pack. 307 has M20 4 speed instead of trimatic

The 306 pack ( but not called a euro pack ) on the auto Would that explain the included electric windows & central locking
rear speaker etc
And can you confirm some early sle's had rear drums
Race5l mentioned he owned an example once

Yep, that is correct on what 306 pack is.

Not sure on the rear drum brakes. People I've yacked to over the years tell me all VB SL/Es had discs, only the lesser base model or SL 253 Commodores had drum rears. I've seen an original one owner October 1978 build VB SL/E that had rear discs.
