so thought i better throw up my new build. and i guess by now it is pretty obvious that i can't help but be a little left of field..

this is the first car i ever owned, paid $2000 for it in like 2002, just before i got my licence. sweet 202, auto, gas, tidy as f**k. pretty much lowered it and put chromies on it that lasted about 6 months before i pulled it off the road. stripped it down and sent it off to get resprayed. i put together a injected 355 and built a trimatic for it... then i bought my first s13.. the 355 and box got sold to fund cool **** for that. and that was in 2007.. and it has sat in the shed ever since.

until now. first step was to clean out the shed, 1 load of scrap steel and a massive load of rubbish later...

not as much space as i'm used to, but better than nothing.

first task was to piss off the interior:

20130207_182124_zpseafb683f.jpg

and test fit some leftover parts..:

and start to dummy up the front suspension, consisting of S14 lca, driftworks drop spindle, s14 tein monoflex coilovers. pretty straightforward

old vs new LCA

and a rough test of how the wheels will fit (waiting on hubs).. i won't be using these wheels as they are for sale, just the same width and offset:

bought some dry ice and helped the old girl lose 17(ish) kg

yay, more seam sealer removal. 90% of the interior is done, ran out of wax and grease remover though. boot needs a sand, as i just half assed it. only got rid of the seam sealer that is in the direct line of sight. so maybe another day or so and i can put down some primer.

dummied up the front end again and it looks like i'll need to lay the towers back 50mm which doesn't look to be a massive issue. should net me 8 degrees caster with the wheel in the centre of the arch

some test fit pics of the wheels, gives a bit of an indication of what they look like and how i want them to fit.
these are actually my front wheels. 17x9 +20 with a 225/45 (just resting on the studs, need to convert to 5x114.3 stud pattern) the 17x10 +40s i need will sit in 20mm from where these sit:

test fit of the 17x10 +20s. all the wheels will eventually be this colour

also here are some pics of the turbo, compared to a garret 30/76

cheers man. i actually don't have a silvia. i got rid of my last one like 2-3 years ago. just have a heap of parts left over. the reason i got started on this was because my sprinter was pretty knackered and this has been sitting in the shed forever... and i'm always keen to do something different and silly. my last s14 silvia had a 280rwkw 1jz and the sprinter had a nitrous assisted non turbo SR20. both of which i built pretty much myself

little more progress, 1 hub has rocked up from TAARK the other, as well as nuts and caps are on back order.

dummied it all up and huzzah, i do need to lengthen the lca about 30mm. here is my bbs mesh on properly (18x9 +20) and -1 degree camber.

this is the point where the wheel hits the swaybar (why i'm glad i can lengthen the lca )

roll centre... and the car will need to be raised compared to this

and the rotor size, old vs new (well the size i plan to use anyway)

ahh true.
that explains the silvia coilovers nice work on the hubs they look like a custom drop hub set up?
i love that your actually trying someting differnt in the drift seen and also doing a very good job at it
the silvia and sprinter would have been cool weapons

thanks guys, LAP004: yeah they are essentially 50mm drop spindles with a modified tierod end mount for less akerman. and yeah, building a commodore to this level is all pretty much new ground to me, but i am enjoying it so far as everything seems to be falling into place
this is the sprinter, bought it as a non-rolling shell, only took about 6 weeks to build:

and here is the s14, had a vvti 1jz out of a jzx100 toyota chaser, took about 2 years to build
