Thought you fixed it? What have you tried so far? have you tested for spark and petrol? How old is the fuel?

Seeing as it actually starts by arcing the starter, start by checking the wiring inbetween the starter and relay, for signs the rats have had a munch....Swap the relay for the starter, with a known working one.

Clean the starter wiring terminals, by taking them off the starter (noting where they came from for re-installation purposes), using fine sandpaper, or even Inox...Inox is a spray on electrical terminal cleaner, that I have found terrific to use.

Once this has been done, then report back as to what the results were

Okay thanks for your comment I will try that. The plug the connects the solenoid wire is frayed a little could that be a cause?
Also I can get the car to start fine while I fiddle with the negative terminal on the battery why would that be??

Bad earth to car body or wires that contact the terminal are not contacting or are broken, little wires that is.

Because the terminal/terminals are loose and need cleaning/repair/refitting.

edit for more info.
You can buy a battery terminal cleaning tool or you can simply use sand paper or emery cloth.
Disconnect both leads from the battery and clean both inside the fittings and the battery terminal post as well, then refit correctly and tighten so they will not move around, not super tight but tight enough.

Firstly, yes the freyed wire wouldn't be helping....

Replace the negative terminal with a new one....Make sure the battery post is clean when refitting the new terminal
