VC Wagon SL 308
Hi,
I am new to this forum, reading through, there are a lot of knowledgeable people out there!

I have a vc wagon matching numbers

253 v8, 10 bolt disc diff etc.

The confusion I have is the engine code in the vin number is an “R”

I cannot find any where what the R stands for.

Open to facts please, hope you can help with this info.

vin is 8L35RK J********
It’s only the R that I cannot find info on I know its the engine code but

Meaning the 4.2 litre V8 used in VB-VH Commodores are high compression.

Btw with the diff, is it oval shaped cover? if not, its not a 10 bolt. Its not the bolts on the cover plate that is called 10 bolt, its how many bolts hold the crown wheel on.

It would be great to know what the “R” stands for then.
The diff has been looked at by my local mechanic as I was unsure and he got another guy in to look and it’s def a 10 bolt.

If you could help with a reference to the “R “ and what it means then very much appreciated.
