Hi all,

I will start this thread to show you my build and ask q's as any help is welcome.

I have 1979 VB factory 253 that I am building into a VC HDT tribute car.

I am doing as much work as I can myself and it is a budget build.

I have 15 inch original Holden globe wheels ,at the moment tyres are 205 55 15

I will have flares on the car so I want to fit in the widest and higher tyres possible?

Cheers

Too many
I've got 245/60/15 on my VC, standard diff, rolled guards on a 7" +43 steelie. You can get up to a 255/60/15 with the right offset, not sure how much your flares will come into the equation though. Depends on the size of the flare and how low you want it.

I remember, years ago, people were adding reverse cowls, tubs and flairs to their old commodores. In my view it made them look somewhat unbalanced, but each to their own, beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all. However, years later, the value of stock examples went through the roof so many started to remove their outrageous body mods bringing them back to a more subtle stock look.

By all means, mod your car. However, subtle looking mods broaden a cars appeal and thus helps to preserve its value while still making it enjoyable to look at and drive... Too big and too wide tyres may or may not fall into that mold... Just food for thought

I had 245/50/14 on my VB back in the day.

No rolled guards.....no problems.

Yes they do but they are very expensive.. I got original Holden globes, just did the front brakes, they look great but will need a bigger tyre, pic below

235/60/15 easy on a 15x7

255/60/15 be about biggest on 15x7 rim although not seen one tucked on a lowered car without certain mods or rubbing issues.

Since your building a HDT replica, I felt it must be said that forum members like build threads and lots of photos :p
