I just had a chat with engine builder, he said if it is rubber he can replace it without taking the crank out.

If it is indeed a rope seal, he will have to take it out.

One other question guys, see pic below of thrust bearing I took out.

According to clutch place the correct kit is this one for VB 253

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SB-Clut...251338?hash=item2cfa61728a:g:~CMAAOSw5EVfB89y

Now, looking at the bearing in that kit , it looks nothing like the one I took off the car.

The one I took off the car looks exactly the same as VN thrust bearing.. (the one with plastic dark casing around it.

I have no idea what they were doing here...

If the correct bearing is the one in that kit above, how does that bearing fit the clutch fork?

Clutch fork has those 2 rivets that fit the VN bearing perfectly..

Anyone?

Just doing some research. See the link below comment form user Ozbox.

http://www.mysandman.com.au/forums/showthread.php/3751-Another-Adjusting-Problem-on-my-WB!!!/page3

According to him the bearing I took out is correct.

" the carrier and bearing on the left is for a push clutch..every all synchro 3 and 4 speed v8 or 6 to early hz...the middle carrier and bearing is for pull clutch..late hz wb and vb vc vh vk commodore 6 cylinder...the carrier and bearing on the right is for pull clutch in v8 for late hz wb and vb vc vh vk vl vn vp vr and early vs with t5 but not late vs getrag gearbox as they are hydraulic..you should be able to see the carrier and bearing through the inspection cover...another clutch adjustment problem in v8s is the incorrect supply and use of the 6 cylinder carrier and bearing...note the hieght differences..hope this helps figure out yours and everyone else who may have this same problem....just a note, most places will tell you the v8 carrier for anything up to vl is obselete..fact is they superseded the part number when they started using the carrier with the t5 boxes in vn on..so if you get that answer ask for one to suit vn v8 or ring me coz i have them in stock new..

It makes you wonder why some many commodore clutch kits for VB sell you different throw out bearing.."

Yes. it looks like yours is his 3rd on the right. "for pull clutch in v8 for late hz wb and vb vc vh vk vl vn vp vr and early vs with t5 but not late vs getrag gearbox as they are hydraulic" which is your 2nd pic from left.
But your "pic 3 apparently correct" doesn't look like any of his, unless it is an updated variation of his first one on left " for a push clutch"

Agree mate the one in pic 3 is the one in the kit, haven't bought it yet, I will need to do a bit more research. I got the coil and front alternator bracket done, also lower hose was a bit worn so got a new one. Stan has finally finished my carby, took a month of his time.. the guy went up and beyond testing this thing. He said it will go like S... Off the shovel haha

Today I've cleaned up the reverse gear switch, soldered 2 wires that looked a bit dodgy, new tape and a bit of paint.
