253 have thick bores 30thou won't hurt it all.

Just make sure it's got some decent compression in it to get most out of the cam & recurved hei to suit.

Contact camtech...nobody says stage 1 or 2 cams these days :D

Hehe I will do that, I am hopping to get something that's already been fitted to it, a lumpy cam that sounds like a proper V8 at the idle, let's see what they recommend.He said that original timing cover was one of the best originals he's ever seen.

I will also call Clive, this guy might be able to regrind the cam that was in it or even have one ready to go.When it comes to engine building I love dealing with old guys... Cannot beat the knowledge.

I will call him tomorrow, I think we are on the right track.The carby,engine ,camshaft and gearbox will all be rebuild by very experienced old mechanics.

Thanks Skylarking, a great read indeed, when the engine is finished I am expecting it have some decent HP to it, will it get to that level?probably not, but it will be more then enough for a tuff little cruiser. The vb's are very light cars and it will be a super reliable car.
