Replacement pump or hi vol version...a mild 253 should be fine with most of the standard gear used off 308.

Hi all, I've dropped off the 5761 cam kit to the engine builder, I think he is a bit more conservative about putting bigger cams in but hopefully he can pull it off , at least we known it fits petrol 253 engines, he did show me the internals.Broken rings, worn camshaft lobes, bearings..He will also chat with crow cams tomorrow.

You'll want fairly decent compression ratio for bigger cam to work so it doesn't feel like a dog down low.

Cam will bleed off pressure so higher comp helps gain back some of the low down drivability & retain grumpy sound.

I seen another thread today where someone else is having problems since fitting cam in 304 VT. I suspect he could potentially have the same issue.

All good guys, the engine builder spoke to crow cams and it will be fine.He will make necessary adjustments plus the car is manual it has extractors and ignition.Another thing if you remember is that my flywheel was damaged , clutch fork had crack in it and the gearbox was missing a steel dust cover.I came across a guy that was wrecking some Holdens and he took off the M21 gearbox from bt1 vk. I paid $600 but got the following, m21 box, very tight shifter no gear stick (spare), lightened fly wheel ( these go for $500), 2 original fork clutches in very good( saved $220 here) Nick, steel dust cover ( another $200).Heavy duty clutch plate and disc. The clutch plate is very good, the clutch disc is good but tiny bit of damage .Anyway I will get a new disc it's cheap the plate is still ok.Saved $ here too.I ll sell the M21 for $600 and got everything else for free.

I thought of that but I already got a fully rebuild M20 sitting in the shop ready to pick up, the guy that build it is a well know Aussie 4 speed builder and he did something to extra gear ratio that will suite the engine combo very well. Here is the pic of dust cover before and after
