Vc L commodore
Hi guys, looking to upgrade the tiny 1.9ltr starfire engine in my vc commodore.
Looking to install a 253 or 308, and wondering what is needed to do this conversion.
Any advice is recommended, I am new to this.

And front rotors...Not sure on calipers though.....Wheels also need changed from the 4 cyl ones.....The original 4 cylinder commodores ran Torana wheels, which were a different PCD....

Struts don't need changing, but springs do....Or if the springs are left, it's a cheats way of lowering the car :)

That's why I'd just swap out the entire front strut as you will have the correct PCD on the rotors. Brakes were the same whether it was a 4,6 or 8 cylinder as far as I'm aware. There were the odd ones with a 1" MC but all the calipers were the same as far as I know.

Honestly, these days I'd keep it as is, or even sell it and buy a 6 cyl or V8. Starfire Commodores are a rare breed these days.

They also made a 4 cyl VN, which in Aust at least are rarer than the VC 4cyl but highly unlikely they would ever be desirable either...

I would use the starfire as a boat anchor then fit a 2J
