Very poor customer service indeed - a well known fault yet they’re denying any responsibility

It’s not as if your request is unreasonable either - you’re merely after a replacement

In all seriousness, what would this cost VCM to replace? The publicity this is generating could end up costing them a lot more!

Do you guys really think it's reasonable for them to provide warranty on a piece of plastic after 5 years? pretty sure there is nothing in consumer law which says you should be entitled to a lifetime of warranty on anything you buy. If it was just outside of their warranty period, you would have a valid point, but in this case just get over it and buy a new one, or get a Harrop or DuSpeed if you think they are better.

the main issue is it was known fault, some turned up sooner than others, it is exactly the same fault, thus under consumer it has failed

There is something wrong when the filter holder becomes more disposable than the filter itself.

It's like the Holden VF steering issue, known fault but not a recall, bet there's heaps out there that have paid hard earned $$$ to repair, forums like this help spread the message about defective parts . Vcm should have had a recall on this year's ago but like a lot of businesses don't.

well according to them they did do a public service announcement on forums and other electronic media and extended the warranty to 2 year, I asked them for a copy of the PSA they apparently issued but they failed to produce one, ive searched countless google searches for it and there is nothing regarding a PSA, ive only found forums complaining about it

From memory they didn't release any thing it was a forum generated backlash. For a while they said everyone was overtightening clamps etc.
