Why would anyone do this, when it's so easy to undo an LS sump bolt. They are even easier than early V6.
Agree, I was more meaning for taking out smaller amounts as opposed to opening the sump plug and trying to get it back in again with oil still gushing out

Owners manual says 7.6 litres for a 2010 L76 motor and they always put about 8.2 in it. Very bad for the oil seals especially the main rear one. Have mentioned it to them several times.
I managed to get hold of all of the servicing records since the car was new. They have consistently been adding between 8.2 - 8.3 litres of oil to a L76 motor, that should only take
7.6 litres, for the last 12 years. When l queried this with the service manager he said it was better that they put to much in than not enough.

L76/L98's had bigger sumps compared to the 7.6L sump on the L77's

As far as I know the L76 is 7.6L including filter. I think all L76 engines had the smaller sump. I would hope that this is the reason that they have been over filling ours.
The service manager agreed that they should have been adding 7.6L.

Mate l know 6-700mls extra doesn't sound like a lot but on the d/stick it looked a long way over 5mm.

Yes I did, but they had been doing it for the previous 10 years before we owned it. The former 2 owners had never brought it to their attention. The d/sticks are so hard to get out maybe one reason they hadn't bothered to check it. Cheers mate.
