VE Berlina
So I own a 2010 VE Berlina with the 3.0L V6 with the 6 speed auto gearbox. I've known about the issue for a while (as my mother has explained it to me as the car was hers previously), but driving it on a daily basis I've been able to experience the issue first hand. The transmission gets 'stuck' between 2nd and 3rd sometimes, and the car doesn't know whether to leave the car in 2nd with higher revs (2500 - 3000) or shift up to 3rd (1800 - 2000 revs) The car then just shifts back down to 2nd and gives me some power. This is especially evident when accelerating out of round-a-bouts. The overall experience is a relatively powerful forward-backward-then take off forward motion of the car.

According to Holden themselves, there is nothing wrong with the transmission - but this is definitely not normal and shouldn't be happening. From my research from other car's automatic transmissions, there could be transmission slip which is causing the car to cut power and then 'think' to switch down until the slip is lessened - then it can shift normally again.

Surely someone else has had an issue like this and has some sort of solution or some way to relieve it.

Cheers,

How many K/s has I done ?
It could be low on oil
And has the Transmission been serviced ?

I’m tipping its possibly never been serviced, as GM said they were sealed for life,
which was BS.
I serviced mine 17,000 k/s ago
(@200,000 k/s) with a service kit, and it as smooth a silk again.
However, the oil was black, where I did read the oil could be either red or black, but dont panic if it’s black.

it has done just under 100000 KMs I'd have to ask mum but I doubt it has been serviced - how much for this service to be done?
oil has just been topped up recently (2 weeks ago at most)

I don't think this is causing this issue outlined but I bet it needs to be replaced because when I launch the car in the 'engineering mode' the throttle position defaults at 27% even though I'm completely stationary

again how much would it cost to replace this?

Auto Trans have to be checked on the ground over a pit, on the ground up on stands, or on a hoist, as the car needs to be level,
And the oil temp needs to be a specific temperature to test the level.

engineering mode shows the raw value which is usually in the 20's

I'd say it sounds like a good time to get the transmission fluid changed. From memory the Holden service schedule either has a huge service interval for trans service or says it's filled for life but either way if you notice an issue I would get it done at a reputable transmission specialist, not wait for it to get worse.
REPUTABLE being the key word!
