Looks like a fuse holder, take the top off for a look... Has the previous owner fitted HIDs?

It's definately not a fuse holder. It's standard.

It's not a fuse holder - I've popped off the cap and it's just a two pin female plug. It was a demonstrator so had no mods to it before I bought it (so no HIDs, extra lights etc etc).

The only suggestion that might be credible (aside from all the funny ones!) is the LPG diagnostics port idea. The plug/lead look like they're factory but sort of like an add on. There's nothing like it under the bonnet of my SV6 so nothing to compare with...

well if its anything like my car (which happens to be 20+ years older) then plugs that lead to nowhere will be found everywhere.

I have at least 4-5 plugs that simply end in a wire or a random plug :p

But as for yours, i don't really know, a diagnostic plug for the holden techs sounds reasonable.

It looks like it is for the lpg then?
My petrol sv6 doesn't have it..
I would agree with others that it is the lpg diagnostic port.
Lift the air box out (two nuts) and see where it goes...
