i think we are all well aware of the blindspots, just need to be mindful of them and accommodate for their existence.

I put one of those convex mirrors on the passenger side mirror . I'm over 60 so I can get away with it ha ha .

We use convex mirrors and they are a god send.

The blind spots were improved on VF by thinning out the A-pillar trim.
Many modern cars have the thicker A-pillar for "safety".

If VF was an improvement, then the VE must have been an abomination of an A-pillar design.

Guess safety in design must have lost its meaning if pedestrians and whole vehicles can be obscured by such a thick A-pillars. Seems the regulators are asleep at the wheel on such a simple passive safety issue as the driver having good forward and side visibility o_O

It’s to do with crash ratings.
I don’t think we are in a position to complain about a blind spot of a vehicle that first appeared over a decade ago.

^ it’s a common issue on many current cars.

Design emphasis seems to be on protecting the occupants at the expense of driver visibility. Good driver visibility can help to avoid crashes while poor visibility result in crashes. Active systems are no replacement for good passive design as active systems can fail and then what does the driver who thinks the car will save him do; crash is what.

Hence my comments about the regulators being asleep at the wheel ;)
