I've had the new pads on for 2 weeks now - so here is some real world
feedback..
After having the REMSA pads fitted - and picking up my car is was *very*
disappointed. My Mechanic said they might needed to bed in a little, but
overall he did not rate them at all.. He questioned why I would go backwards
from the QFM's..
Anyway, a short drive home that night highlighted minimal braking - and my
brakes stuck on...
So - limp back to mechanic next day where we pull it down to find that the
pads on the passenger side had been put in the wrong way around and the
rivet was catching on the piston... Embarrasingly he changed them around -
but did say in his defence that there was nothing to notate that they were a
"inside" pad and an "outside" pad.. He had jagged the driver's side one
correctly...
Pads in correctly and a quick drive showed WAY increase in braking.. PHEW!!
With that hiccup out of the way - I proceeded to drive sedately, and not
push the new pads for 100km - to allow them to bed to the rotors..
At this point I was enjoying the NO RATTLE - and a nice firm pedal that
easily slowed the car to a halt - a noticeable improvement over the QFm's,
which in themselves where good.
After the 100km run in - I really tested them.. running up to 100km/h and
then BRAKING hard.. BIG Noticeable improvement over the HPX - especially as
they got warmer they bit harder.. ABS was activated pretty early.. And I
pulled to a quick halt.. I then did it again, and found the bite just as
hard with little to no fade..
In summary the REMSA's are an excellent brake pad upgrade for a day to day
sedan. Initial bite is good, and just gets better the longer you brake. They
saved my front end twice on stops from people cutting me off.. I would, and
will, recommend these pads to any and all that listen. Price is outstanding
for performance delivered - second to none really. Even the brake dust -
though still apparent - is not as bad as some high $ pads that offer similar
performance..
Thanks to GSL...
