Ultimates do dust a lot.

The new tech is ceramic like these Hawks, good performance and low dust

Hawk Performance Part Number HB606Z-650 Front

You can get them from the States, (US$78) I don't know who does them down here.

Bendix Ultimate will only chew standard rotors..... A set of DBA 4000 series slotted rotors with a set of Bendix SRT pads is what i have on all 4 corners, i have black wheels and hardly have any dust from them. They will however set you back a bit on the $ front. but well worth it for the long run.

Hi guys,

Just got an email from the first customer we supplied Remsa to after the HPX phase out with a VE Commodore, and the results are good to say the least:
I've had the new pads on for 2 weeks now - so here is some real world
feedback..

After having the REMSA pads fitted - and picking up my car is was *very*
disappointed. My Mechanic said they might needed to bed in a little, but
overall he did not rate them at all.. He questioned why I would go backwards
from the QFM's..

Anyway, a short drive home that night highlighted minimal braking - and my
brakes stuck on...

So - limp back to mechanic next day where we pull it down to find that the
pads on the passenger side had been put in the wrong way around and the
rivet was catching on the piston... Embarrasingly he changed them around -
but did say in his defence that there was nothing to notate that they were a
"inside" pad and an "outside" pad.. He had jagged the driver's side one
correctly...

Pads in correctly and a quick drive showed WAY increase in braking.. PHEW!!

With that hiccup out of the way - I proceeded to drive sedately, and not
push the new pads for 100km - to allow them to bed to the rotors..

At this point I was enjoying the NO RATTLE - and a nice firm pedal that
easily slowed the car to a halt - a noticeable improvement over the QFm's,
which in themselves where good.

After the 100km run in - I really tested them.. running up to 100km/h and
then BRAKING hard.. BIG Noticeable improvement over the HPX
- especially as
they got warmer they bit harder.. ABS was activated pretty early.. And I
pulled to a quick halt.. I then did it again, and found the bite just as
hard with little to no fade..

In summary the REMSA's are an excellent brake pad upgrade for a day to day
sedan. Initial bite is good, and just gets better the longer you brake. They
saved my front end twice on stops from people cutting me off.. I would, and
will, recommend these pads to any and all that listen. Price is outstanding
for performance delivered - second to none really. Even the brake dust -
though still apparent - is not as bad as some high $ pads that offer similar
performance..

Thanks to GSL...
Remsa FTW.

Remsa to suit VE are $89 for the front, and $85 for the rear. Remsa to stui VB-VZ (standard brakes) are $89 for the front, and $79 for the rear.

A-touch-warm to 550 degrees....

Previously we would've recommended QFM HPX, but we are slowly phasing HPX out in favor of an even better performance street pad. It's a European performance pad called Remsa, which is rated to 650 degrees (versus 550 for the HPX or Bendix Ultimate), whilst still being low dust and rotor wear. Also the Remsa come with noise reducing features such as a relief groove and shamfers in the pad material, as well as a soft backing shim, all of which the HPX do not come with. We've been supplying Remsa to high performance street road cars like Porsche and Ferrari for many years, but the pricing has now become such that we're now able to expand it to most road cars.

Price on Remsa to suit popular Commodores:
VB-VE Front $89
VB-VZ Rear $89
VE Rear $85
C5 PBR Corvette Front $105

And yep, for VT-VZ, these are still the very popular full face police spec version!!!

I was using the HPX with my VS with the VT front brake upgrades.
I just put on a VE brake upgrade (330 front & 315 rear) on the VS and I am currently running the REMSA pads with this upgrade.
I ran a Street Sprint a couple of weeks ago and the cold response was fantastic, a lot more accurate than the HPX.
I ran a practice session a Lakeside on Sunday which consisted of about 38 laps, most at a good pace and the high speed feel of these pads was brilliant.

As for dusting, I cleaned the rims the day before and after the laps there is bugger all dust on the rims. I would of expected at least twice as much going on past track days.

Very interested in these. Do they use the full surface of the break rotor unlike the OEM ones that leave a few mill on the inner and outer edges. Where can you buy these pads for VE (V8) in the Canberra area? Or is it mail order only and if so what would freight cost be?

Cheers
Phil

In VE there's only one option. VT-VZ has the larger face pads. If the OEM don't cover the whole rotor then I'm not sure why.

Shipping on front and rear pads together is free, or else $8 per axle set individually.

I've just ordered a VE Series 2 SV6 and the test drive at the dealer tells me the pads will need to be changed to get the bite I am looking for.

I am trading in a Subaru Liberty GT with TS2000 pads F & R, and very happy with the performance of the TS2000s. The DS2500s were too harsh and required too much heat to get them to work.

Will these Remsa pads you mention be comparable upgrade to what I am used to? Are the pads the same for a series 2 as series 1?

Thanks Tim
