I would talk to Holden and findout what revisions your car has had and then use that information to choose your next move with a suspension specialist "not Holden" as they're usually cheaper and more
Knowledgeable about their trade!
If Holden were that smart they would have picked it up during testing or designed it better.

Unfortunately, it seems like regardless of where I go my pants will be pulled down.

I'm in the wrong kind of job.

Phantom SSV
My SSV had two clunks, one as a result of crap D Bushes in the sway bar (known issue with VE's) and was missing the spring mat on the base of the strut where the spring is seated.

Pre VE struts had a groove (if you can call it that) to seat the spring, the VE is almost a flat base. Due to the flat base the spring can in some instances shift around and clunk going back into place. Newer VE's have this spring mat from factory. If your near a dealer just have a look where the spring sits.

Clunks can be a pain in the backside to diagnose, but start with the simple things and maybe take it to a specialist who has a good rep..

Thank you all for input and suggestions to the cause of 'ze clunk'.

Well seems the consensus is a third party quality suspension specialist, seeing as I was considering lowering the ride height eventually and perking the handling, I may as well knock out the clunk and dump with one stone.

Which begs my next question, can anyone recommend a quality known suspension specialist in the Homebush area? (1 hours drive any direction is acceptable)
