Yep.... Graham Smith from Herald Sun emailed me again on friday night, he said he'd been given a VE SS ute to drive around and he noticed the 3-2 lag right away.
    thx,

I hope it gets sorted for you soon.. I am having no issues yet with mine but i don't know if it's because it's paired to a 6.2L not a 6.0L LS2 like tommo's or the Holden 6.0L ?

"Customers may experience a delay in acceleration or
lack of performance from the automatic transmission
when exiting a corner. This may also be described by
the customer, as a flat spot or delayed shift and
generally will be reported at approximately 30-40kmh.
This condition only affects MY8.5 and MY09, V8 with 6
    speed automatic transmissions."

there is a new Transmission Control Module program available to fix this problem. you need to get in contact with your local holdens dealer

that clunk could also be the type of oil in the trans, holden now recommend Dexron VI ATF in your trans, contact you dealer to find out more about the oil used.

"This updated ATF provides improvements in:
    Shift quality
    ATF life
    Clutch friction stability
    Clutch durability
    In addition, the lubrication, oxidation,
    foaming/aeration characteristics are all improved."

Can you provide a source or even a link for the above quotes?

Looks like Tech Advice- Great Quote but confuses me as to why two of the major Holden Dealers in Melbourne seem unaware of it? I'll certainly raise it with them but can you advise source (without compromising yourself of course)

    Thanks VERY much- much appreciated.

No it doesn't. They have different calibration level. To date there has been no revisions.

I'll vouch for FTG Holden, they take ages when it comes to servicing but they haven't done me wrong in fixing problems with my Holdens. I'd rather wait patiently for them to go over the problem and assess it properly than just handballing it to the next technician or dealership.

Last time I dealt with them was when my steering alignment was totally out of whack when I hit the fence with my tyre (long story). They got it perfect again and the 15,000km service was done to my satisfaction. All up it was under $500 for memory.. which is pretty good.

Thanks for recommendation on FTG Holden, I went in there and was very impressed.
Holden have rung me regarding the transmission..and sent out a Tech to ride with me where they logged the transmission performance.

Subsequently, they uploaded new software into the transmission which helped a little but in 4 weeks promised a new A6 transmission.... I believe the Engineer was sincere in assuring me it would be fitted to my car and now I'm waiting to see if Holden back him up.
Can't say too much now, I want to wait until it's safely bolted in before I disclose the whys and hows...

Sounds like it might be a good result. Be sure to keep us updated. :D

I've since found that mine has a bit of the 3rd to 2nd lag but only in auto mode - which I hardly ever use. Hence why it took me a while to discover it. I will definitely bring it up at my first service. I appreciate all the info in this thread.

    ***Another Update from my Dealer***
They have been testing all week and agree that there is something not right with the 2nd to 3rd gear change which is very noticable in the morning first thing when the car is cold. I get the flare in gear change for the first 10 mins or so of driving most of the time. Some days the first shift does this and the rest are ok. They have installed a software update in the gearbox but awaiting to hear back from Holden Engineering on my case study.

I will keep you all posted as soon as I hear anything, but if anyone has this issue and has had it sorted, please let me know and what they did so I can tell my dealer.

    Thanks Tim

I got it back on Saturday but they are still waiting on Holden to advise what the next option is on sorting it. A case study has been placed in regards to the flaring on the 2nd to 3rd change. They reinstalled the most recent auto software update and I have noticed a slight different in the shift being better and it only does it for the maybe first or 2nd change when cold.

But according to the dealer, Holden is working on another update to sort it out... Its just a waiting game now.
