Hi All,

My Mum and Dad have an issue with their VE, today they were driving along a freeway at about 110km/h when the Check Engine light came on. My Mum pulled over and tried to restart the car a couple of times but the Check Engine light kept coming on. My Mum said the Check Engine light has been coming on previously and she has had to restart the car and the Check Engine light would disappear.

The car has been towed, the tow truck driver said something about a sensor but they haven't had it scanned yet. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what it might be.

Order a $30 obd2 reader from eBay. Download torque app or similar. Get the fault code.

Best to get is scanned to see what MIL code its produced,
then you can go straight to the source.
Did it say anything on the dash display ?

Hi guys, I thought I would let everyone know what the issue was in case others experience the same thing. Turned out to be the coils.

Out of interest,
How did they find the fault ? Assuming they scanned the car.
Changed parts with trial and error ?
As it may help other JC members to pin point the fault.

Would also strongly take @timd29 advice and get an OBD2 reader.

Almost as important on any modern car as checking fluids and spare.

They didn't say how they found it. As it is all fixed now and my Mum and Dad drove it to the country without any dramas I would assume that they scanned it. My Dad knows a dealer and he took it to them. From what my Mum and Dad said the Check Engine was displayed. Sorry I wasn't able to provide any more details as I am getting all my information second hand.
