VE check oil light

super awesome time machine
so rescently my check oil light has been coming on........ had oil changed at last service... so i thought i should check the dicstick all good levels oil is relatevely clean........

so then ran car in engeneering mode. checked oil life thingo is at 12 perccent...... would that be a problem? how do i reset it?

The percentage shown will not effect the cars performance. It's a mathematical equation.

To reset the percentage- switch the key to ignition but do not start.

As you hit the ignition position, fully depress the accelerator pedal fully to the floor and back up to the normal position 3 times rapidly.

Switch off.

Next restart, enter engendering mode
And it will be back at 99%

Give it a go, let us know how you go.

The oils light could be, pressure related. Not just volume. I would take it back to the mechanic if it persists And get it looked at.

Oil life isnt used in Australia. It could be an oil level sensor fault.

ok so ive done a reset of the oil life thing. and nah still the light is on :S

so its highly likely its the sensor....

which brings me to the next question... do i need to book my car in ASAP or can it wait. as i kinda have no money for fixing it

Engineering mode is entered by holding down the left rotary switch on the steering wheel controls and turning the ignition on.

I seriously would NOT ignore this light.. best to at least get the oil pressure tested first (could be as small as a faulty sensor or it could actually be low in oil pressure) worst case scenario running a car on low oil pressure can do severe damage and potentially seize the engine.
