VE clonk sound when pulling away?

Hi everyone. OK new to the forum, new to Commodore V8's too.

Ok just purchased an 09 Commodore VE SS V8 Automatic. All is good with the vehicle but I've just noticed if I pull away a bit quick I hear a single 'clunk' noise coming from the rear. Now to me (driver) it sounds like it's coming from my side of the rear of the car but my partner who sits in the other front seat says she thinks it comes from under her seat, but def her side. If I pull away slowly it don't do it, only when I pull away a bit quick.

Any pointers guys?

Tail shaft assembly splines. There’s a Holden bulletin for it.
Google will help you.

Either above ^^^ and/or the centre Bearing,
and/or the Donut couplings,
1 at the Front of the tailshaft,
1 at the Rear of the tailshaft.
Always best to replace all 3 items if possible, [because of below's R & R]

NB: to access the centre bearing,
you will need to remove the exhaust, -
Rear mufflers,
Centre section from the cats [flange nuts are 15mm, and a deep socket require]
exhaust heat shield, 4 x 10mm nuts
and it should be visible from there.

Out here across the pond when we get that clunking it's 99% the center bearing that has worn out.

OK just been under the car and can't get to the bearing because of the heat shield stuff. I did mange to get hand onto the drive shaft and didn't feel the slightest bit of play. Gonna pull all that heat shield stuff and mufflers off in the week and have a better look. Am I right in guessing if the bearing is gone there SHOULD be play?...

There's a rubber section around that bearing that starts to wear out as well as the bearing itself failing. If you you- tube carrier bearing removal on Pontiac G8 there's lots of videos on how to replace it.
