Ve commodore alternator

It’s an alternator bud (not a stator or starter)

So the lights come back on two weeks down the track, is it a faulty alternator, battery or has the "dodgy
mechanic" been up to no good?

Was in the same boat - mine went away, but a lot of the posts there indicated that maybe the battery was a bit ****.

Mate they haven't posted for about 9
days, the Lout and Shen Long tried to help them out. Very disappointing when forum members go out of their way to help these people and they can't even keep them in the loop.

So if the alternator was not functioning properly before, the battery health would have suffered. The faulty alternator (genuine would easily cost that now. I paid $550 three years ago) is replaced and is now trying to charge a faulty battery. So you could easily get some problems.

First verify if the battery is ok. Take it to battery world and get them to check its health and have them load test it. Then you know if it’s the alternator or the battery.
Another issue could be the software. There is updates for the charge circuit available at Holden dealers. It’s the BCM (or is it the ECM?) that controls the charge of the alternator. It’s not like days of old when the voltage was done by just the alternator.
